WINSLOW

Seventeen miles N. N. E. of Augusta. On Maine Central Railroad, eighty miles
from Portland. First settled in 1764, and called Kingsfield. Incor. April 26,
1771, and named in honor of Gen. John Winslow. Divided, and Waterville
incorporated 1802. Population-1850, 1796; 1860, 1739; 1870, 1437; 1880, 1467.
Valuation, 1860-Polls, 363; Estates, $409,712; 1870-Polls, 326; Estates,
$470,002; 1880-Polls, 409; Estates, $503,269.
