Hosea Foye of Boston, MA & Hallowell/Augusta, Maine 


FOYE  Hosea - Born ??, d circa 1835, probate records  called him a "collard man" [sic]  
late of Augusta, ME. He was a successful black  businessman/barber late of Boston,  
MA & Augusta/Hallowell, ME, left widow  Mary  Foye.  Hosea Foye of Boston, Mass,  
yeoman sold to Robert Lewis & Henry Nichols  both  of  Augusta, yeoman land in  Augusta  
in  1829 [deed 65-549]. His  widow  later  m(2)  Sampson Freeman of Waterville,  ME.

Lewis. 

Children: S____d 15 Apr 1827 ae 1y "colored" [VR Augusta]

FOYE  Levi - Born 1800, d ??, a blackman, s/o Hosea & Mary (  ) Foye. He was by occ' a 
Victuller, m int 6 Sep 1835, Durinda Moody b circa  1810.

John Henry b 8 Sept 1843, d  27  Mar 1853 in Augusta ae 9y  [death notice from Morning 
Star issue 10 Aug 1853];

Susan b 14 Oct 1841. 

also listed in  family  of 1850 census Sarah Williams b 1830 female black.
