PIONEER GROUND Cemetery, Edgecomb, Maine Here is the Pioneer Ground. When I was in Edgecomb last year they called it the Ancient Cemetery. Connie Winterton EDGECOMB, MAINE PIONEER GROUND Take the road to the right after crossing Wiscasset Bridge and again to the right after rounding a corner and going up a hill. Cemetery a short distance on that road on the left. Yard surrounded by an iron fence and contains graves of the early settlers of Edgecomb. Nearly all the stones are down and broken into many pieces and scattered about the grounds. This cemetery was originally copied in 1940, by Ella M. Hewins, and Mrs. Fred A. Lilly. Rececca Clifford died June 6, 1805, ae. 30 yrs. East side--John Clifford, b. May 2, 1815 - d. Mar. 1840. lost at sea. South side--William Clifford, son, d. April 1822 Martha Clifford, died Aug. 29, 1825 West side--Elizabeth Sherman d. Mar. 31, 1864 ae. 81 yrs. 11m. In memory of William Cunningham who died April 10, 1793 Aged 22 years.
