The Daily Gazette [Utica NY] March 25, 1844
A young lady by the name of Hannah Farnham committed suicide in Dover, Me., on 
Monday, 11th inst., by swallowing three and a half ounces of laudnum. She had 
been engaged to a young man, and the engagement had recently been broken off. 
She attributed no blame to him however.
