" The Maine Book " Sprague Journal of Maine History Vol. VIII Aug., Sept., Oct., 1920 No. 2 page 128 Another of the most valuable of the Maine Centennial produc- tions is " The Maine Book " written and compiled by Henry E. Dunnack, the able and popular librarian of the Maine state library. In his preface the author says, " This book is in no sense a his- tory of Maine, nor is it intended to be substituted for any period of Maine history; " yet it contains very much regarding the his- tory of Maine from its early days to the present time, of its geog- raphy and topography, and of its industrial and social development. It is beautifully illustrated. Its every page is entertaining and instructive and it makes one of the best reference books on the state of Maine that has ever been written (c) 1998 Courtesy of the Androscoggin Historical Society ************************************************* * * * * NOTICE: Printing the files within by non-commercial individuals and libraries is encouraged, as long as all notices and submitter information is included.
