From an old copy of the New England Gazeteer published in
Boston in 1839 we learn Maine's wheat crop for the year 1839 was
was follows:
 
Cumberland County; 71,000 Bushels
Kennebec County; 186,876
Penobscot County; 202,143
Lincoln County; 37,963
Hancock County; 21,446
Somerset County; 239,332
Waldo County; 109,140
Washington County; 27,014
York County; 17,795
