Twelve miles E. of Bangor.  On Air-Line stage route to Aurora. Formerly called
Maine. Settlement was commenced about 1815. Incorporated Aug. 7, 1848.
Population-1850, 306; 1860, 307; 1870, 348; 1880, 350. Valuation, 1860-Polls,
66; Estates, $36,529; 1870-Polls, 88; Estates, $58,752; 1880-Polls, 98; Estates,
$44,259.
