Thirteen miles North North-east of Bangor. On Maine Central Railroad.
Incorporated Feb. 28, 1833. Named on account of Mills on a very valuable water
power on Penobscot River. Population-1860, 687; 1860, 744; 1870, 827; 1880, 734.
Valuation, 1860-Polls, 155; Estates, $151,241; 1870-Polls, 182; Estates,
$178,614; 1880-Polls, 164; Estates, $174,709.
