MAPLEWOOD CEMETERY Transcribed by Hartley E. West Jr. On Sept. 23, 2003 hartleywest@hotmail.com The cemetery is located in the town of Garland in the County of Penobscot state of Maine to reach the Cemetery take route 94 West towards Dexter the cemetery is about ½ mile out of town on your left. The cemetery was established in 1849 and still has lots for sale. It is in good condition and maintained with fresh cut grass. The names have been copied exactly as they appeared on the stone when you see the initials G.A.R. This was for the Grand Army of the Republic, which was an organization, started after the Civil War. There are some open spaces between some of the stones indicating that there are stones missing. Haskell, Capt. Isaac W.
