EVENING STAR LODGE, I. O. O. F.
Evening Star Lodge, I. O. O. F. was instituted Jan. 10, 1879
with the following charter members: Albert Allen, Chas, P
Dore, Oscar M. Nason, Henry H. Wells, Robt. Ingalls, Warren J.
Cookson, Leonard C. Forbes, Ira Page. The lodge grew rapidly
and some forty members later withdrew to form the lodge at
Athens. It now, has about 140 members and is in a very pros-
perous condition, having taken in 30 members in the last two
years. The first hall was the Amos Bartlett hall which is now
C. F. Spaulding's house. The lodge owns its present home a
large three story building with lodge room, banquet and amuse-
ment halls and has a fund of about $2,000 at interest. In 1910
only one lodge in Maine (Knox Lodge at Bucksport) gained
more members. Past Grands are: C. F. Dore, Robt. M. In-

W. Jacobs, John S. Hight, E. S. Reed, Chas. A. Wheeler, Wm.
McLaughlin, Chas H. Cromwell, Hosea C. Hurd, Sam'l W. Her-
rick, W. B. Huntress, W. S. Bemis, N. H. Herrick, Irving Hurd,
Geo. H. Roades, J. L. Johnson, Chas. L. Whittier, C. C. Mc-
Laughlin, E. B. Reed.
