MASONS
Carrabasset Lodge, No. 161, of Free and Accepted Masons
was founded March 2, 1871 upon the petition of the following
masons: Geo. W. Johnson, Ivory Lowe, Geo. H. Bean, Elbridge
Richardson, Thomas B. Gleason, Owen Hussey, Jas. McNelly,
Asa H. Tozier, Llewellyn Morrill, Geo. L. Fuller, Chas. F. Pack-
ard, Sewall Brown, A. D. Washburn, Joseph G. Brown, Frances
E. Sevanton, Daniel Ela and Samuel J. Moore.
The first officers were: Master, Ivory Lowe; Senior War-
den, Sewall Brown; Junior Warden, Llewellyn Morrill.
Under the name of Carrabassett Lodge, the first meeting
was held April 4th, and a charter was granted May 9, 1872.
The Worthy Masters since the organization have been:
Ivory Lowe, 1871-1874; Sewall Brown, 1875; Geo. W. Johnson,
1876-77; Ivory Lowe, 1878-80; Hartson C. Gower. 1881; Ivory
Lowe, 1882-83; Sewall Brown, 1884; Ivory Lowe, 1885; Hartson
C. Gower 1886-88; Noah Ricker, 1889; Ivory Lowe, 1890; Sam-
uel J. Moore, 1891-92; Walter H. Smith, 1893-94; Frank Wey-
mouth, 1895-96; Walter H. Smith, 1897-1898; Alpheus Nason,
1899-1900; Geo. H. Ames, 1901-02; Fred C. Dunlap, 1903-04;
Harry B. Harris, 1905-06. In 1906 the net membership was
(82) eighty-two.
