S. Regulars), Al- merin E. Bosworth (enlisted in Athens in 14th Me. He was the youngest recruit from that town in 1861), Calvin C. Berry, Selvin D. Flanders, Alanson Locke (4th Me. Bat.), Chas. H. Goodridge (enlisted in 5th Me., re-enlisted in 15th Me., served 3 years., w. at Gettysburg), Allen E. Cookson (enlisted in Bos- ton as a teamster in 1861 and served through the war, being in the region of Knoxville, Tenn., Bull's Gap, Chattanooga and Mt. Lookout), John Tilton (served 1 yr., d. soon after dis- charge), Chas. F. Smith (30th. Me., prisoner at Jacksonville), David Whittier (Cav.), W. L. Grindle (enlisted in what was known as the "Foot Cavalry"), Wm.H. Kinsmore (d. at Cold Harbor.) Other military service: Henry Wyman, the grandfather of Mrs. Paulina Kimball, was a Revolutionary soldier, Jacob Kins- more, Jr. enlisted in Mexican War. The Kinsman family has furnished some excellent suldiers to the country in the persons of: Joseph Chas. Kinsman, for some. years Brig. Gen. of the State of Maine, and Josiah Burnham Kinsman who was Vol. Aide de Camp of Gen. Butler without pay or rank and was com- missioned a Lieut. Col. in the regular army by Pres. Lincoln. Later he was commissioned Col. Brig. Gen. and Maj. Gen. of Volunteers. He was provost judge of New Orleans and has since been for 5 years a U. S. judge in Egypt. He is still living.
