Benjamin Berry obit of Rye, NH & Embden, Maine Benjamin Berry died 29 April in the 99th year of his age. His funeral was attended by a large congregation of friends and relatives. Rev. Samuel Savage preached a very appropriate discourse. He was born in Rye, NH and moved to Barrington when a small boy, and lived there till he married Mary FOSS and had a large family of children. She died thirty-six years ago., and he has lived a widower ever since. He was a soldier of the Revolution and was one of Gen. Arnold's men - West Point. Bro. Berry made a profession of religion about sixty years ago, was baptized by Elder Boodey and joined the Free Will Baptist church. He was a man that read a great deal and particularly the New Testament, much beloved by all who knew him. He told the son he lived with, a few days before he died, that he should soon be with his blessed Jesus. We rarely see so pious a man, and one who lived so exemplary through life. Brother Berry was an uncle to Elder N. Berry of New Durham. Forty-two years ago he moved to Embden, Maine, where he has lived ever since. written by Benjamin P.
