Robbinston, ME births 8/10/1903-1910 or so : part 3 Date: 97-08-10 18:36:54 EDT From: sergeant@xylogics.com (Sharon Sergeant) I made copies of three pages of a ledger of Robbinston, ME births from the microfilm at the Family History Center in Bangor, ME. I will transcribe these ledgers in sections over the next week or so. The first message will have births from 8/10/1903- 12/24/1904. The second message 1/11/1905 - 12/31/1905 The third message 1/14/1906 - 12/3/1907 The 4th message 3/10/1908 - 12/31/1908 The 5th message 1/20/1909- sometime in 1910 I am looking for further info about my HOLMES, MAHAR and MOHOLLAND family ties in Robbinston and Fort Fairfield, ME and New Brunswick, Canada. My grandmother Esther E Holmes was born in Robbinston 1/14/1906 to Allen J Holmes (b NB) and Nettie Jane Mahar (b Fort Fairfield, ME). Sometime before 1920, Allen and Nettie died of TB, and Esther and her brother Edward Leroy Holmes (Roy, born abt 1904 in Letite, NB) were listed in the Robbinston census with Joseph E Moholland, age 50 as their grandfather. He seems very young to be their grandfather, and I do not understand how he would be based on Esther's parents names. Esther met my grandfather Charles W Crew(e) and married abt 1928 in Boston, MA, where my mother was born. Her brother "Roy" Holmes married Edwina E Diffin (b abt 1915) in Robbinston. Their children were Donald Leroy, b 4/1/1933, Ruth Elaine, 4/25/1934 and Allen Edward, b 3/5/1936. I think that Roy and Edwina were divorced because Roy lived in Hopkinton, MA where I grew up for at least 20 years before he died. Allen E Holmes m Betty J Bishop of Perry, ME 10/28/1955. Some of the entries are out of order. Many are hard to read, so I may not have deciphered them properly. Please, let me know if you have questions or corrections. I do have a web page at http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Plains/7945 It currently has general VARNUM family info. I have just made contact with VARNUMs in ME and recieved a copy of a 40 year old research document that shows how these families descended from the family that came to MA in 1635, but I will not be adding that until I get a scanner and reorganize the site to include my HOLMES (ME, NB), CRANDALL (RI>NS>NB> ...) and ARNETT/CREWE (PEI>MA>...) research. I do not expect to get that reorganization done for a month or two, so you might want to post this info in the meantime.
