Dill 581 Crown St #27 Meriden, CT. 06450 This is the season when newspaper reporters interview physicians about cures for sea-sickness. Dr. Alonzo Clark recomends a washbowl, Dr Beard bromization, and Dr. Hammond chloroform and the bromides. The Medical Record, without discarding the bromides says: "We think highly of the washbowl." As the story goes an inventor out West made a candle that would blow itself out! Gov. Plaisted's Council have probably bought or in some way secured the patent: they have blown themselves out and can't see how they are to be "lit agin." Local and Miscellaneous Items Mrs David Longfellow, at Marshfield, died suddenly August 12; erysipelas, probably. The New (Disciples) church building at East Machias in progress of erection is up, boarded and work moving along under charge of Mr Lowell Hall. News came last Tuesday of the death of Mr Wm C Talbpt, Firm Pope & Talbot, at San Francisco. He had been failing for several weeks but died quite suddenly. He was a native of East Machias, the eldest child of the late Dea Peter and Eliza Talbot, his age about 66 years. The senior partner Andrew J Pope died a few years ago. It is understood that the Firm had accumulated a large property. Mr Talbot in company with his brother Frederic were on return from Teekalet, Wash. Ter.; he died on the steamer. The Branch of the Coast Survey party are sub-divided into four companies; One at Cape Split in Addison under charge of C.H. Boyd, boarding at Capt Enos Wass; one at Harrington, at Mrs Mark Dyer's, under charge of Wm H. Dennis; one at Milbridge under charge of A.W. Longfellow, at Capt L.G.
