Dill) From Milbridge Mr. James Leighton, the old gentleman who attempted suicide a few days ago is recovering. Capt. Warren Fickett, who died recently, was buried under the Masonic order. The Masons paid all funeral expences and made up a purse of $55 and gave it to the widow. Joseph Chipman, a lad of 11 years, while trying to run down some birds at Dyer's Point, accidently shot himself, receiving the whole charge in his side. Dr. Coogins was called but could do nothing for him; he lived but a few hours. He was sensible to the last taking leave of all his friends and died with undoubting trust in the Lord. Local and Miscellaneous Items Mr. John Eary an old and respected citizen of Milltown died Nov. 28 A Washington dispatch says, "Information has been received here of the death of Gen. Kilpatrick, minister to Chilli." Report from Halifax states that John Frost a native of Eastport, was drowned Nov. 12 from the fishing sch. Plymouth Rock. Gov. Plaisted and Council have gone home, adjourning to meet on the 13th inst. Pardons were granted to James I. Brown of Milbridge, now in Machias jail for bigamy, and to Valparaiso Mosely of Ellsworth, imprisoned for receiving stolen goods, and now insane. Mrs. Hale, widow of the late James S. Hale, died peacefully at her home in Turner, Me., of heart trouble, Monday morning. She was 73 years old last October. She was a woman of uncommon strength and beauty of character and will be deeply mourned by all who knew her.
