Hanscom has been drawn Juryman from Machias, January term. Messrs. Young & Stimpson sold their steamer "C.H. Mansfield" to Geo. McAllister of Calais, who has sold it to Robert Ross of St. Andrews. Mr. Kerman, 2d engineer on steamer Falmouth fell from the staemer at St. John Dec 21 and was drowned. The remains were taken to his home at Eastport. Wm. Smith, of Machias, at work for Robert McReavy, near Fourth Lake, had a leg broken and head injured by a tree falling on him Wednesday last. He was brought home Friday night suffering badly from the wounds. Salmo Fraucis, governor of the Passamaquoddy tribe of Indians, died at Pleasant Point Friday, Dec 9, aged 86 years. It will now be necessary for the tribe to choose a new governor, but in this matter the division long existing in the tribe appear. The "old party" look upon an election by the whole tribe as an insurrection, and claim that ancient usage should be followed. The "new party" favor an election. The Indian agent will probably be called upon to settle the matter. Stillman Albee of Whitneyville, was badly hurt while at work in the woods a day last week by a tree that fell on him. He has not been brought out of the woods yet. Mr. Beriah Whitney of Milltown, NB, was so badly injured last week by a horse running over him that but small hope is entertained of his recovery. He is about 80 years old. Geo. H. Grant of the firm of J.T. Grant & Co., of Ellsworth, lumber manufacturers and dealers died Dec 19 from heart disease after a lingering illness. Smith, of Carrollton, Mich., to Miss Amelia Campbell, of E.; Dec 8, Joseph Anderson Esq. and Miss Emily Rice, both of E.; Dec 15, Robert Spear Jr. and Miss Laura Harris, both of E.; Everard E. Newcomb and Mrs. Charlotte H. Swett, both of E. Died In Melrose, Mass., Dec 20, Eddie H., son of Loring and Minnie Beverly, aged 1 year 22 days. The remains were brought to Machias for Burial. In Columbia Falls, Dec 15, Gilbert E., youngest son of Hilman and Caroline Allen, aged 24 years 5 months. In Gouldsboro, Dec 17, Belinda L., wife of Curtis Guptil, aged 74 years. In Lamoine, Dec 17, Malinda Hadley, aged 88 years. In Brooklin, Dec 11, Capt. J.P.B. Batchelder, aged 73 years. In Bluehill, Dec 18, Capt.
