 Hon. John B. Brown of Portland died Monday A.M. from the effect of a fall Saturday evening.

[There is an extremly long artical about the trial of Warren Longmore, 9 years old, for the murder of Freeman Wright, aged eight years which I will send out to those interested. Please be aware that I am a two fingered "hunt and peck" typist so the reply may be slow <g> Ken]

  Mr James Robertson, of Eastport, died recently in Florida.

  Abby L., daughter of Peter and Rebecca Verrill, died at Bethel, Me. Dec 15, formerly of Calis.

   Mr Solomon Rice, at Eastport, has lost three children of diphtheria. Emily died Dec 22; Lehanora Dec 30; and Charles Jan 9, the youngest 12 the oldest 15 years 6 months.

   James E. Crane who died last Thursday had been in failing health for a long time. The remains will be interred at Whiting. He had been in the employ of the Western Union Telegraph Co. a number of years; at one time at Eastport, and latterly at Portland.

   In Machias, Jan 14, James E, son of Mr James Crane, aged 38 years.
   In Perry, Jan 11, Alvin Leighton, aged 90 years.
   In Lubec, Dec 24, Catharine Allen, 40 years.
   In Trescott, Jan 1, Mary D Lynch, 22 years.
   In Jonesport, Jan 13, Edward Beale, 70 years.
   In Harrington, Jan1, Mrs Betsey Tibbetts, 82 years; Jan 8 Ichabod Colson, 87 years.


                GENERALITIES

  The oldest postmaster in Maine is said to be Capt. Johnson, of North Harpswell, who is brisk and lively at 87, though without a tooth in his head.
