Abby L., daughter of Peter and Rebecca Verrill, died at Bethel, Me. Dec 15, formerly of Calis. Mr Solomon Rice, at Eastport, has lost three children of diphtheria. Emily died Dec 22; Lehanora Dec 30; and Charles Jan 9, the youngest 12 the oldest 15 years 6 months. James E. Crane who died last Thursday had been in failing health for a long time. The remains will be interred at Whiting. He had been in the employ of the Western Union Telegraph Co. a number of years; at one time at Eastport, and latterly at Portland. GENERALITIES The oldest postmaster in Maine is said to be Capt. Johnson, of North Harpswell, who is brisk and lively at 87, though without a tooth in his head.
