Gordon died in Sullivan Jan 12 aged 90 years; sick but one day. John k. Ames has taken letters of Administration estate of Geo. W. Pope, of East Machias Harrison T. Nash, estate of Oliver Nash of Addison. Mary C. Talbot, Executor estate of Loring Talbot, East Machias. Mr Benj. Wiswell who died at E Machias recently was many years engaged in trade and ship-building; girm of J.M. Wiswell & Co. Marcus Richardson, who died at Bangor Jan 13, was 100 years and two months old. He was said to be the oldest Mason in Maine and probably in the United States, having joined in 1803. He was born in Medway, Mass. October 1780, and had been a resident og Bangor fifty seven years. Mrs Thom, wife of General Thom at Portland, died suddenly, Jan 15. She was a person of rare excellence and noted hospitality. SICK LIST. Mr Willis H. Allen, was very sick last week; threatened with brain fever. He is better and hopes to be out again soon. Mr Thomas McCabe was in the house last week; a severe billious attack. Mr Clark Perry has been confined to his house for several days; a trouble approximating erysipelas. Mr. A. Tyler has beenlaid by for several weeks by a rheumatic lameness; he is better. Dea. Wm. Inglee is able to walk out pleasant days. ABOUT HIRAM. Mr. Hiram M. and phebe Ann Flynn, at Machiasport, have raised a family of six children, three sons, three daughters all living. Mrs Flynn is a daughter of the late Gideon Tupper, of Jonesboro. Mr Flynn is 62 years old, never was sick enough to take medicine or call the doctor and now enjoys good health. Geo. F. their eldest son, is master of the Sch Geo. D. Perry; has been master of same vessel six years and met with but one slight accident; the loss of a small boat. James A. second son, is master of the sch Sabao, and Fred G. youngest son, is cook on sch A. McNichol, working his way up; "Going to be master by and by." The eldest daughter, Sarah E. married Joel W. Colbeth master of sch Kalma. The second daughter, Sarah E. [This is just the way the artical is written, they must have had a typo to have two Sarah E.'s Ken] married Chas Kenney; they keep a boarding house in Portland, and the third daughter, Elvira, married Jerome B. Cole, master of sch A McNichol. As will be seeh the children are industrious men and women, with prospects of "better days" ahead. DIVORCE CASE. The wife of Rev. O. M. Cousins, a prominent Methodist minister, has procured a divorce from him in the Supreme court at Saco. The custody of the children was given to the mother. The charge that Mrs Cousins brought against her husband were extreme cruelty and refusal to provide even the neccessaries of life. The evidence in the case clearly showed that the defendant was very cruel towards his wife, at times beating, choking and otherwise brutally ill treating her. He made the most fearful threats to her, until she could endure it no longer, and sought relief from his abuse in legal measures. The Augusta Journal sats that Mr. Benj. Hodges, of Hallowell, died at his resident on Central St. Jan 11, at the advanced age of 93 years. PERSONAL. Mrs E. Blanding is spending the winter with her daughter, Mrs. Wm. Longfellow. Mr. P. Gillise of Lubec, made us a pleasant call Thursdat last. Mr E.A. Mansfield Jr. of Winterport was in town last Friday. Mr Warren Hill has been confined to his house several days; had the doctor called Saturday. OBITUARY. Mrs. Lizzie H. Gilbert, wife of Mr Chas. P. Gilbert, died at their home in Winthrop, Jan 17, aged 39 years. Mrs. Gilbert had been failing in health for several months and the last few days was unable to take any nourishment; except cold water. She arranged all matters of funeral, with the request that Rev Mr Harding conduct the excercises. All her wishes were complied with except that Mr. H. being out of the state could not attend. The attendance at funeral was very large, not half who desired to could get within the house. The floral offerings were numerous and beautiful. Besides those from the Winthrop friends, Boston and elsewhere, the officers of the Str Lewiston sent a fine floral design; the manager and Express people a beautiful cross; all of which was gratifying to the bereaved husband and friends.
