Dill 581 Crown St #27 Meriden, CT. 06450 There is a long artical on the FELLOWS family in this issue, the artical is faded in some areas so it will take awhile to type it out. I will be posting this artical on my homepage (address listed below) when it is completed. Local and Miscellaneous Items Mr G.M. Brainard and his daughter Evie were at Jonesboro last week. Fred, son of E G Gaillac, formerly of Jonesport, died at Chelsea, June 25, aged about 19 years. He had just arrived home from sea. Justice Clifford is reported as very sick at the residence of Caleb R Ayer, Cornish. He is suffering from gangrene in the foot; he may live a month or he may die very soon. Mr A. McIsaac, who has lived at Dennysville several years, has removed to Belfast. Mr A Y Bradford has removed from Cherryfield to Machias. They are known as "Telegraph men"; keeping the line in repair. Stephen S. Nash, of New York, is visting his brother Mr Harrison Nash at Addison. He has been Teacher about 20 years in a school in New York city; 1200 to 1400 boys in the school, under about 20 teachers and assistants. He has lost but 1-2 day and that by sickness in the 20 years. Mrs Nathan Longfellow kindly corrects an error made in our statement as to Captain Elliot, of the Cutter. She remembers him well. Capt Daniel Elliot Jr, not the senior Elliot, was the Captain when the Cutter was captured by the Hare. Daniel Jr was half brother of the late John Holway Esq.; his mother was Martha O'Brien sister of Gideon O'Brien, and his wife was Mary Patten of Newbury, Mass. The oldest inhabitant of Addison pronounced the hail storm of July 4th the most severe ever known. The hail stones were of solid ice, many of them three-fourths of an inch in diameter. They fell in so large quantity, says our correspondent, "That I easily gathered enough to freeze a dish of cream for the family." There was no shower that day in Machias, not even rain.
