Ken FROM ADDISON Chas Chandler, F.M. Merritt and wife, Elzena T., only daughter of A.D. Tracy, started from their homes in Addison May 23, for the Black Hills, Dakota Ter. Mr Chandler house joiner, Mr Merritt mill wright, will work at their trades, probably making the West their future home. Remarkable case of family longevity. Mr & Mrs Moses Wooster, late of Columbia, died at the advanced age of 86 and 93 years respectively. They had a family of twelve children, one died in infancy, four died aged as follows; Mrs Jonathan Dorr aged 80, Amos Wooster 80, Moses Wooster 69, Hannah Leighton 88; average 76 3-4. Seven are still living aged as follows; Polly Allen 90, Leonard Wooster 83, Esther Merritt 81, Mariam Leighton 77, Deborah Stevens 75, Abigail Look 73, Lousia Low 68; average 78. Average of parents and the twelve children 74 years, nearly. LOCAL AND MISCELLANEOUS ITEMS Mr B.L. Farrell has removed his family from Columbia Falls to Machias. He is carrying on the tailor business cutting and making mens' wear to order. Mrs Nancy L. Whitaker, wife of Nahum Whitaker, and mother of Henry Whitaker, one of the engineers at the Milton works, died in Franklin, on Monday, May 30, aged 78 years. She was born in Hancock and was married 57 years ago; she was one of the oldest members of the First Baptist Church in Trenton, (Lamoine;) she has had a family of seven children, and died at the house of her son Henry, leaving a bereaved husbant in his 78th year. Mrs Job Small and family arrived home at Machiasport last week after an absence of several months. Clinton Hanscom and Harvey Elwell of Marshfield, left for Minnesota Monday this week. Col Nathan Dresser died at Andover, Me., May 23, aged 74 years. He was a native of Lovell and for 32 years a prominent citizen of this State. Owen P. Hinds of St. Stephen, N.B., was seriously injured recently by an infuriated bull which he at length conquered though at the expense of a broken shoulder and many severe bruises. He escaped with his life only by great presence of mind and genuine pluck. Mr Wm Chandler who died at Trescott recently, was a native of Aberdeen, Scotland; was an apprentice in the English Navy, when Napoleon 1st gave himself up a prisoner on board the ship of war Bellerophon, and was one of the boys who rowed along side that ship to pay his respects to the fallen Emperor. T.M. Plaisted, Esq., of Lincoln, was in town Friday last. His span of fine roaders took him from Cherryfield to Machias in just three hours Friday morning via Whitneyville; about 30 miles. J.F. Lynch, Esq. accompanied Mr P on the drive. Edward Small, Frank Waide and Charles Warren have a fish weir on Holmes' Point, Machiasport.
