Smith, at Columbia, who has been sick nearly three months from internal hemhorrahge, is getting better. Died at Farmington, April 29, Mrs. Sarah Ann W.F. Allen, wife of Rev John Allen, formerly wife of John Fellows late of Brunswick, aged 65 years, 3mo. 20 days. Two bears, supposed to be, are prowling about John Young's pasture at Columbia Falls. Eleven sheep were killed about May 12. Guns have been set for bruin but he don't shoot yet. The American says that a very sad accident occurred in Ellsworth, May 3d. While Lemuel Moore was driving a loaded ox team by the school house, a little daughter of Reuben Moore's ran out to get a ride, and falling under the wheels was run over, inflicting injuries from which she died in a half hour. A skull, believed to be the missing head of Mrs. Lizzie Lowell, who was murdered in Lewiston, some seven years ago, and whose headless skeleton was found near the "Switzerland road," was discovered the other day by a man who was fence-building on Wakefield's farm. It was buried under leaves, near the place were the body was found. Mr. Timothy Drisko, at Indian River, is quite sick; keeps in house and is suffering from a complication of bodily troubles. Geo. M. Emerson, son of Ezekiel Emerson, at Indian River, died of heart disease on board of brig Marena, Hammond of Gouldsboro, master, at Rio Janeiro, SA, January 1, 1881, aged 35 years. He leaves a widow, daughter of Mr. Timothy Drisco at Indian River. Mr. John O.B., son of the late Ansel Tupper of Jonesboro, died May 13 at the home of his daughter in Ellsworth, Mrs. Sophia Chilcott, aged 78 years, 4 months. His wife, daughter of the late John Noyes, died several years ago. They leave three children, one son, Wm. L. Tupper at Jonesboro and two daughters. The remains received masonic burial at Jonesboro Sunday by Harwood Lodge of Machias, of which he was a member. He was a worthy man and Brother. Mrs. Steves, wife of Andrew Steves of Machias, died instantly of heart disease in her home Sunday morning. She is daughter of Sylvester Jones of Calais formerly of Wesley; leaves four small children. Mathew Clare, proprietor of Clare's Hotel, was thrown from his carriage May 9th, breaking a rib and receiving other injuries. A wheel came off the carriage. He lingered in much distress till Monday morning May 16 and died. He had been keeping hotel in Machias for thirty years, more than 20 in the house where he died. He was about 70 years of age; leaves a widow and one daughter, Mrs. James McGouldrick. From his long connection with hotel life he had large acquaintance. MARRIED In Philadelphia, April 25, by Rev. Byram Esq., Wm. O. Brown and Miss Clara A. Searles, both of Campobello, N.B. DIED In Machias, May 4, Mattie, daughter of Edward H. and Sarah McLaughlin, aged 7 years 9da. In East Machias, May 10, Karl, son of Morris and Sarah Hanscom, aged 2 mos 14 days. In Marion, May 5, Willie H., son of Wm. J. Garnet, aged 2 years. In Berkly, Mass., May 3, Sarah Wheeler Cony, wife of the late Dea. Eben Stone, of Newton Centre, and daughter of the late Joseph Cony, of Eastport. In Bar Harbor, May 10, Capt. David Rodic, aged 64 yrs, 5 mos, 10 dys. In Riverside, Cal., April 23, Capt. Wm. A. Abbott, aged 64 yrs., formerly of Ellsworth, Me. In Hancock, March 19, Geo. Frost, aged 85 yrs 9 mos.
