She is the mother of 15 children, only three of whom are livinf. Work has commenced on a mine on the land of Wm. Farrar, at Gouldsboro. The showing is said to be good. Mr. Isaac N. Crabtree and a party from Franklin, recently shot a deer on No. 10 township, which weighed something over 300 pounds. Mrs. Betsey Pratt, widow of Seth Pratt, died at Bucksport Centre, Oct 26, aged 84 years. She was a pensioner, her husband having been a soldier of the war of 1812. Mr. Neal Vanhorn, a commercial traveler from Portland, shot two loons at Sullivan recently. As he shot both with a rifled pistol, at a distance of about 300 yards, he may be considered "a good shot." Local and Miscellaneous Items The Whig says that the wife of James F. Rawson, esq., of Bangor, an estimable lady, died Saturday evening, after a painful illness of seven years. Mrs. Livermore, wife of C.D. Livermore, manager of the Western Union Telegraph office in Portland, died Monday evening after an illness of about three weeks. She was first taken with billious fever, which culminated in brain trouble. Cal. Sargent gives this as his record: "Twenty-three times in the Ellsworth jail; four times in the Bangor Workhouse and twice at Thomaston, square and handsome. A fire at Old Orchard last Friday morning destroyed the Lawrence, Belmont, Aldine, St. Cloud, Fiske and Blauchard houses, and several smaller buildings. Loss $125,000; insurance about $75,000. The will of a man who died in Berks county, Pennsylvania, the other day, contained this clause: "And I further disinherit and prohibit from participation in the distribution of my estate such of my male descendants as persist in wearing moustaches."
