Oct 18, 1881 Machias Union Date: 97-11-22 00:52:25 EST From: ctyankee@bigfoot.com (Ken) Select "clippings" from the Machias Union published in Machias, Washington County, Maine PRESENCE OF MIND A little daughter of Mr. Charles Lynch, of Vinalhaven, fell into a well recently about which she was playing in company with another girl about eight years of age. With considerable presence of mind for a child of that age, the child ran to the house of Mr. James McDonald, near by, and told him. Mr. McDonald hastened to the well, but could see nothing of the girl. Taking a long pole, with a nail in the end, he reached it down in the water, and fortunately her clothes caught on the nail and she was brought to the surface. She was unconscious when taken out, but was restored by prompt measures and hard work, and is getting well rapidly. S.J. COURT: OCT 4, 1881 HON.WM. WIRT VIRGIN, J. P.H. LONGFELLOW, Clerk. HENRY A.
