First I commend my immortal being to God who gave it and my Body to the earth to be decently buried by my executors hereafter named. Second. I hereby constitute and appoint Henry P Dewey of Portland Me Horace Harmon of Lubec and William Woods of Calais to be my sole executors of this my last will directing them to pay all just debts and funeral expenses and the legacies herein after named. Third I give and bequeath to Mary, wife of William Woods of Calais Me Five hundred dollars Fourth I give and bequeath to Emma Fowler, daughter of Henry Fowler of Hartford Con Five hundred dollars Fifth I give and bequeath to Mary Ann wife of William Laurence and daughter of Benjamin Fowler Five hundred dollars Sixth I give and bequeath to Emma Woods dughter of William Woods Calais Five hundred Dollars Seventh I give and bequeath to Lottie Clark daughter of Maria Clark Five hundred dollars Eighth I give and bequeath to Sarah Fowler adopted daughter of my late brother Samuel Fowler Five hundred dollars Ninth I give and bequeath to Mary H McLyaig (?) for her kind attention and care of Mifs S_tes and Mrs Fowler Five hundred dollars I give devise and bequeath all the remainder of my personal and real estate to my Brothers abnd Sisters viz Sarah Gilbert Henry Fowler Rebecca Porter Benj Fowler and Charles Fowler & also to the sister of my late wife Melissa Dewey and their heirs respectively, share and share alike. Hereby intending that all the remainder of my estate after the legacies are paid to be equally divided among my said Brothers and Sister & Mrs Dewey or thier heirs. It is my will and wish that vessels belonging to my estate be managed by J S Winslow of Portland to be sailed without hinsurance except when they see proper and insure theirs. The vessels not to be sold or sacrificed after my decease but to be managed and sold by them when they sell their interest in the same vessels. It is also my wish that the land in Benton County Ind with the note for the sale of land in the hands of my agents Peckham & Smith may remain until the land may be wanted by settlers & the note may become due. The (?) Income and sale of vessels or other propert y of my estate to be equally divided among my heirs according to the above will yearly by my executors until the final settlement of the estate In testimony whereof I hereby set my hand and seal and publish this to be my last will and testament in the presence of the witnesses named below this third of July 1868.
