ROOT BREWSTER'S obituary was published in the Otsego Union, Otsego, Allegan Co, MI, Thursday, January 17, 1918. Mrs. Amy S. BREWSTER, a resident of Otsego for nearly 29 years, was born in Williamsport, PA, April 6, 1846 and passed away at her home January 11, 1918, at the age of 71 years, 9 months, and 5 days. At the age of two years, with her parents, she moved to this state, settling in Yankee Springs, Barry county, and at 8 years of age moved to Oshtemo, and there resided until her marriage to Clark BREWSTER on September 5, 1862. He preceded her in death 15 years ago. To this union were 7 children, 3 dying in infancy. One daughter also died in Oklahoma, at the age of 29. There are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother, Horace, Manley, and Mrs. Cora AMES of this place. Two sisters, Mrs. Jane LAMPHERE of Cadillac, and Mrs. Susan TURNER of Kalamazoo, 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, also survive. She had been a Christian for over fifty years, joining the Baptist church, by letter, immediately after taking up her residence here. For the past 12 years her home has been at 341 Court Street, where she endeared herself to those of the surrounding neighborhood. She was also a member of the W.R.C. The funeral was held from the Baptist church yesterday afternoon, conducted by Rev. McDonald, and the remains laid at rest in Mountain Home cemetery (Otsego). dz
