Bedunah was born March 11, 1895, and died Oct. 12, 1918 with bronchial pneumonia. At the age of 23 years 7 months, an 1 day, he leaves his mother, three brothers an two sisters, besides many friends to mourn his loss. For the past year he had been the main support of his aged mother, doing his duty manfully and without a murmur until the time he was called into the service, the 26th day of August, 1918. Being absent from home just seven weeks before his death. He provided many comforts for his mother which will keep him still warm in her memory. Mrs. Bedunah received the following comforting letter: Casual Co., T.C.U.S.A., Camp Colt, Gettysburg, Pa., Oct 15, 1918. Mrs. Clarissa Bedunah, 304 E. Hammond St. Otsego, Mich. My, Dear Mrs. Bedunah: I regret the sad duty of notifying you of the death of your son, Jay E. Bedunah. Your son died at the camp hospital, Camp Colt, Pa., at 10:15 from bronchial pneumonia. Jay E. Bedunah had the making of an excellent soldier. He did his duty cheerfully and was well liked and respected by those who knew him, both as a soldier and as a man. He possessed qualities that made strangers respect him and friends love him. He was a faithful soldier and every man in this organization feels deeply the sudden death and join me in sending your our heartfelt sympathy. Very respectfully, DANIEL L. McBETH, First lieutenant T.C.U.S.A., Commanding Casual Co. The funeral service was held Friday afternoon, conducted by Rev. G. E. Wright. Burial in Mountain Home. Additional Comments: Jay was the son of Moses and Clarissa Bedunah. He would have been a great uncle to me.
