Jay E. Evans, of Okemos, Michigan, formerly of Carson City, Allegan and 
Kalamazoo.
Jay "Sug" Evans was born in Crystal, Michigan, on June 6, 1930. He was the 
son of Ruby and Ernest
Evans and was the youngest of two children.
He passed away peacefully at Bickford Cottage in Okemos, on March 17, 2016, 
at the age of 85. Jay
graduated from Carson City High. He married his high school sweetheart, 
Margaret "Pud" Yocum on
March 25, 1951. Jay was a barber for over 50 years. He owned and operated a 
barber shop in St. Joseph
and Allegan, Michigan. After retirement he barbered on a part-time basis 
until the age of 80, in Paw Paw,
Michigan and the Orlando, Florida area. Jay also worked at Rockwell 
International in Allegan, Michigan.
Jay enjoyed most sports including basketball, football and baseball and was 
highly competitive. He
learned to golf later in life and quickly mastered the game. Jay also 
enjoyed fishing, horseshoes, playing
cards and dominos. Jay was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, 
Margaret "Pud" Evans, and a
son, Scott Evans. Surviving are his children: Michael Evans; Susan (Russ) 
Suor; Tracy (Brad) Ballein;
nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and his sister, Dorothy 
LaClair. Jay's work ethic and
contagious sense of humor were loved and will be missed by his family and 
friends. A funeral will be held
at 11:00 am on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Reo Town Venue, Riverview 
Church, 1115 S Washington
Ave., Lansing, MI. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the 
service. For those who wish to

Association, Capital Area
