Minard Shears
Died: Wednesday morning, 3:00 (23 Mar 1910) after a long an protracted illness,
Residence: This township and village many years (Otsego, Allegan County, MI)
Address: East Allegan street (Otsego, Allegan County, MI)
Born: September 1, 1842; “in the Buckeye state” 
Married: October 7, 1862, to Miss Marinda Hammon
Marinda died five years ago
Surviving Family: “Aged mother, Mrs. Malinda Becker, now 86 years old, five 
brothers, six sons and one daughter.   The brothers are Frank of Northern 
Michigan, William of Ohio, Sidney of Northern Michigan. Adelbert and Luther of 
Otsego.  The children are: Oscar of Plainwell: Sherman, Bert and Arthur of 
this place: Barney of Onnalinda, Penn.: Mrs Lydia Ludtke of Roberts, Wis., and 
Jay of Canada.”
Funeral: From the home at 10:30 Friday (25 Mar 1910)  forenoon
Officiating: E.R. Clark."





 

Additional Comments:
Mindard D. Shears was my 2nd Great-grandfather.  His first name is spelled 
many ways:  Mindard, Myndard, Minard and Minerd are ones I have seen.  He was 
born in Sheffield Twp., Ashtabula Co., OH; to John SHEARS and Malinda SHAW.
