It was a very bad fracture, both bones being broken below the knee protruding from the flesh, the young man was brought to the home of Birt Shears, in this village, and Dr. H.E. Whitney was called. He is doing as well as can be expected, but was in terrible pain all day Wednesday and Thursday when out from under the soothing influence of opiates. Mr. Shears is 22 years of age, and is a son of Sidney Shears. Friday forenoon Drs. Snook, of Kalamazoo, assisted by the local physicians, removed the leg above the knee. His body is bruised badly, and it is doubtful if he recovers.
