Married: Nellie Avery, November 26, 1895 “Immediately after their marriage they started their new home in Otsego.” “One son was born to them who died in infancy.” Occupation: Bardeen mill No. 2, machinist, several years Occupation: Night watchman for city (Otsego), three years Occupation: Coating mill, mechanist and millright, “until about seven weeks ago when he was taken sick.” Otsego fire department for nearly 40 years. Memberships: Knights of Pythons and of Odd Fellows. Surviving Family: “His wife, four brothers, Oscar, of Gun Plains, Sherman of Onaway, Arthur of Otsego, and J. Shears of Grand Rapids, and other relatives and friends.” Services: Sunday at 2:30, from home Burial: Otsego cemetery. Additional Comments: The cemetery in Otsego, where he is buried, is Mountain Home Cemetery. The location of his grave is E-80-2. His brother Barney E. SHEARS and his sister Lyda Eleanor LUDTKE preceded him in death. His parents were Mindard D. SHEARS and Marinda Elizabeth HAMMOND. Their names have various spellings on different documents.
