South Side of Monument-"Coat of Arms of the Munroe's of Fowlis, Scotland 
1026". Beneath this is a raised shield, with an eagle head, and below the 
shield the motto - "Fear God". At the bottom is a round crest which is 
engraved with a thistle-like plant, and these words: "Emigrated to           
America in - 1652, settled in Lexington, Mass."
