Alpena News, November 18, 1996
Alta Geraldine MacDougall, 89, of Alpena died Saturday (Nov. 16) at Alpena 
General Hospital.  Born Alta G. Merrill on Aug. 18, 1907, in Virginia, Minn. 
She married Russell MacDougall in 1937 in Alpena, and he preceded her in death 
in 1975.  She was employed at the Alpena Garment Factory for several years and 
was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star since 1943.  She was also a 
member of the Trinity Episcopal Church.  She is survived by a brother Phillp 
P. Merrill of Alpena; a sister, Jsne (Mrs. Roland) Emerson of Sacramento, Ca.; 
several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by three sisters and 
two brothers.  Friends may call at the Bannan Funeral Home on Monday (Nov. 18) 
from 2-9 p.m. The Eastern Star will hold a memorial service at 8 p.m. Monday 
at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held on Tuesday (Nov. 19) at 11 
a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Thomas Downs officiating.  Interment: 
Evergreen Cemetery.  Memorials: Order of the Eastern Star or Trinity Episcopal 
Church.
