Alpena News, May 6, 1947
Frank Forrest Merrill, 73, died this morning at his home, 222 E. Campbell, 
following a three-day illness.  Born Dec. 7, 1873 in Alpena, he married Mabel 
Wright of Long Rapids on June 23, 1898.  In 1905 thye moved to Minnesota and 
in 1912 they settled in Duluth, residing there eight years until their return 
to Alpena in 1920.  He was employed for 19 years with the city water 
department, retiring in December 1945.  Surviving, besides he wife, are three 
sons, Ray, Ralph and Philip of Alpena; four daughters, Mrs. David Nordstrom 
(Reba) of Bay City, Mrs. Russell McDougall (Alta) of Alpena, Mrs. Herald 
Kingsbury (Charlotte) of Albuquerque N.M., Mrs. Roland Emerson (Jane) of 
Alpena; three brothers, William Merrill of Fairmont, MO., John Merrill of 
Pensacola, Fla. and Alex LeRoy of Holly, Mich., two sisters, Mrs. George 
Gilbertson and Mrs. Frank Mercy of Flint; 16 grandchildren and two great 
grandchildren.  The body will be at the Bannan funeral home.
