Additional Comments:
Elmer M. DeFord was born Dec 17, 1880 in Clayton Township, Bay/Arenac County 
Michigan to Flora (Smith) and Ambrose DeFord, the eldest of five children. He 
was a grandson of Nelson DeFord and Henry Mason Smith. He worked as a rail 
engineer and farmer. Elmer married Anna B. Cross Jan. 1, 1918 in Alpena 
Michigan.  In the early 1920's they moved to Flint Michigan where he worked as 
a machinist in an auto factory.  They had two children, a son and a daughter.  
Anna died in 1939 and Elmer remarried Maggie Reed in 1949.  He died in 
Twinning, Arenac County Michigan in 1969.
