Additional Comments:
Ambrose DeFord, born May 10, 1853 in Clayton, Jefferson, New York.   He was 
the son of Nelson (Duford)(Deford)and Mary Anne Campbell. The family moved 
from New York to Clayton Township, Bay/Arenac County Michigan where they 
farmed.

Ambrose married Flora Rosella Smith of Mason Township, Bay/Arenac County, May 
8, 1878 in Bay City Michigan. Ambrose farmed and Flora was a mid-wife for a 
time. They raised five children, Elmer, Fred, Henry, Clifford, and Alice.
