Additional Comments:
Flora Rosela (Smith) DeFord was born July 6, 1859 in Tompkins, Delaware, New 
York.  She was the daughter of Henry Mason Smith born Windham County Vermont 
and Betsy Anne Eggleston born Tompkins New York.  The family settled in Mason 
Township, Bay/Arenac County in the mid 1870's.  Flora married Ambrose DeFord 
May 8, 1878 in Bay City Michigan.  They farmed in Clayton Township, and raised 
their five children, Elmer, Fred, Henry, Clifford, and Alice.  Flora was a 
midwife for a time.
