Additional Comments:
Henry N. DeFord was born in a log house in Maple Ridge, Clayton Twp, Arenac
County Michigan to Flora (Smith)DeFord 1859-1934 and Ambrose DeFord 1853-1942.
He was not yet married and lived on the family farm, farming and working as a
laborer in lumber wood.  He drowned on July 4, 1888 in Alba, north of Mancelona
Michigan while swimming in a gravel pit with two friends and his brother Elmer.
Henry was 25 years old. His siblings were Elmer 1880-1969, Fred 1885-1962,
Clifford 1897-1989 and Alice 1900-1990.
