L'Anse Sentinel October 8, 1892
Pg. 8:

Mr. John Auge, one of the earliest settlers of Baraga county, died last 
Wednesday. He was about 70 years of age and had resided in this county, nearly 
40 years. He is mourned by two daughters and one son, Mrs. McMahon and Charlie 
Auge, of Baraga and one married daughter residing at Chassell. The funeral 
services were held Friday morning and the remains followed to their final 
resting place in L'Anse cemetery by a large number of sympathizing friends.
