Mrs. Mary Clark, an old lady who has been living in L'Anse about two years, went to Arvon last Tuesday to visit her daughter Mrs. Pat Brogan. She started to come home, between three and four o'clock in the afternoon, with Pat Connors, who was to drive in with a team and buggy. When only a short distance from Arvon the team took fright from some strange object on the roadside, and overturned the buggy, throwing Mrs. Clark out head foremost upon the roadside, killing her instantly. Mr. Connors escaped unhurt and ran back to Arvon for assistance. The railroad surgeon, was summoned, but when he arrived at the scene of the disaster he found the poor woman's spine dislocated and life extinct. The deceased was about 65 years of age and leaves a son and daughter and also an adopted son, a lad about ten years old, to mourn her unfortunate end. The remains were buried in the Catholic cemetery at this place Thursday forenoon.
