In the death of George Hadley which occurred at his home Saturday last, Baraga loses one of its most public-spirited and enterprising citizens, and his untimely decease will be mourned by the entire community. The immediate cause of death was heart failure. Mr. Hadley was 39 years old and had been a resident of Baraga four or five years, most of which time he has been proprietor of the Hadley house, formerly known as the Chappell house. He was also president of the village of Baraga, having been elected to that position without opposition at the last election. He leaves a widow but no children. So far as known he had no relatives in this part of the country. The funeral services were conducted from the house by Rev. Mr. Walker, of Hancock, who delivered a very appropriate and impressive sermon. The remains were followed to their final resting place in L'Anse cemetery by a long procession of sympathizing friends. The casket in which the remains were interred was of an elegant design and mounted with a gold plate on which was the following inscription: GEORGE HADLEY At Rest. Died Sept. 26, 1891. Age 39 Years.
