The L'Anse Sentinel August 1, 1891
Edward Johnson, who moved up here from Kalamazoo last summer and opened a 
restaurant died last Monday of typhoid fever. The deceased had twice nearly 
recovered from the disease and suffered relapses, the last one being brought 
on by being caught out in the rain. He was a member of the Odd Fellows, and 
since last spring had been in the saloon business as partner with Mr. 
Finnigan. His remains were taken to Kalamazoo for burial.
