Louis Lachapelle, whose name and face has been familiar to all the old residents of this region for many years, died quite suddenly at the Ottawa house this morning at about 7 o'clock. He had been ailing for the past two or three weeks, some of the time confined to his room, but those attending him little thought his end so near. Mr. Lachapelle was about 60 years of age, though he did not look that old by ten years, has been a contractor and lumberman, in which occupation he made a fortune which he freely spent. He had no relatives in this vicinity but has a brother at West Superior and one at Mackinac. Was married many years ago, but lost his wife and only child before coming to this place. We understand he carried a life insurance policy in the Washington for $5,000, and is possessed of considerable property in lands and teams. The funeral will probably be held Monday.
