It becomes our painful duty to again chronicle the presence of the silent messenger in our midst. After a painful illness lasting through several months Mrs. Samuel Lloyd died at Lester Park, Minn. Wednesday. Oct. 21, 1891, at the age of 55 years. The subject of this sketch was born in England in 1836. Her maiden name was Grace Reynolds. She came with her father's family to the Upper Peninsula at an early age, some time about 1840, and was married to Mr. Samuel Lloyd at Eagle River. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd came to L'Anse when the town was first started and resided here almost continuously since until last spring when they removed to Lester Park to engage in a hotel business. At that time Mrs. Lloyd was apparently in the best of health, and little did her numerous friends then think that in a few short months they would be called upon to bear her lifeless form to the grave! Mrs. Lloyd was a woman of noble impulse and generous and kindly disposition, and all who knew her were her friends. She died as she had lived, a consistent Catholic with the hope of heaven beyond the grave. The funeral services were conducted from the M.E. church by the Rev. F.O. Jones, and the remains followed by a numerous throng of sorrowing friends to their repose in our village cemetery. Peace to her ashes and eternal bliss to the departed soul.
