L'Anse Sentinel     May 9, 1924
       Mrs Thomas Murphy died at her home in Baraga Tuesday afternoon, having 
been ill since Christmas.  She was born Jan 6, 1864, at Ontonagon and with her 
parents,Mr. and Mrs Nicolas Demgen moved to L'Anse in 1869, where she made her 
home until the early 1880's when she moved to Baraga, which has been her home 
since.  Married on Oct 9, 1883 to Thomas Murphy and to them were born five 
children, three of whom are living - Mrs John Harris, Elmer and Spencer, who 
with three brothers, Peter of L'Anse, John of Hibbing,MN and Joseph of 
Virginia, and two sisters, Mrs Lena Hayes and Mrs James Sullivan of Virginia. 

She was a resident of this county for the past fifty five years. Fraternally, 
she was a member of W.B.A; the baraga court of Lady Foresters and a member of 
the Altar society of St. Anne's church
