The many friends of Mr. Garret Real were pained to hear of his sudden death which occurred Thursday morning, March 10th, of paralysis. Mr. Real had been a resident of this county for about twenty years. He lived at L'Anse until about four years ago when he and his family moved to this place where his eldest son, Jerry, was engaged in the drug business. About twenty-one years ago Mr. Real was almost fatally injured while working on the Portage canal. He never fully recovered from the injuries then received. About a week ago he fell and struckon [sic] his forehead since which time he has had frequent sinking spells or convulsions. Wednesday evening Father Terhorst was summoned who administered the sites [sic] of the Catholic Church, of which the deceased had been a lifelong member. At 2:20 Thursday morning the crisis came and the soul of Garret Real passed peacefully in the presence of his grief stricken family. Mr. Real was about 61 years of age at his death. He stood well in the community as an honest and upright citizen and a kind husband and father. The bereaved family consists of a widow and five children to whom the hand of sympathy is extended in this their great affliction.
