L'Anse Sentinel, Friday, March 16, 1928
PIONEER BARAGA RESIDENT PASSES
   Last Friday afternoon at 6:33 o’clock, Mrs. Mary Ross age 89 passed away at 
the house of her son Dennis Ross after suffering for the past three months.  She 
was one of the old residents of Baraga, moving there with her family in 1883 
from Jacobsville.
   Mrs. Ross was born in Canada on June 3, 1838 and came to Northern Michigan in 
1880, residing in Marquette and L’Anse, two years prior to moving to 
Jacobsville.
   Four sons, Henry, Adolph, and Dennis at home and Adlore of Detroit, and a 
daughter, Mrs. Richard King of Baraga survive.
   The funeral was held Monday morning with services in St. Ann’s church.  Rev 
Fr Douenberg officiating, with burial in Baraga Cemetery.
