The L'Anse Sentinel August 1, 1891
Mrs. Sarah Stiles, who kept a saloon and boarding house in Laird township, 
died very suddenly last Saturday night. An inquest was held Sunday and Dr. 
Turner, of L'Anse, summoned to make a post mortem examination. The coronor's 
[sic] jury found a verdict that she died from natural causes - disease of the 
heart. She leaves no family, her husband having died several years ago. The 
remains were taken to the Catholic Mission for internment.
