Woodruff, a young man of perhaps 26 years, died very suddenly at St. Germain's hotel, Baraga, Thursday afternoon at about 1 o'clock. He had been indisposed for two or three days, complaining of a sore throat merely, and nothing serious was thought of his case until two or three hours of the end. Mr. Woodruff came here about fours years ago from Ebenton, Tioga Co., Penn., where his people reside, entered a homestead on the [M.L. & D.?] lands, which are still in dispute, and has lived here and in this vicinity since. Last winter he worked in a lumber camp near here and while thus employed he received injuries to his spine which, it is thought, resulted in his death. He was a very amiable young man and well liked by all who knew him. The only relative he had here is a sister, Mrs. Rush Culver, who is now in Washington D.C., with her husband. The relatives of the deceased have been telegraphed the sad news but up to the present time no instructions have been received concerning the disposition of the body, although it is thought the remains will be forwarded to his parent's [sic] home for interment.
