HOPKINS, was born November 17, 1847 at Irving, MI. He was the son of Massanae and Julia [Barton -a.t.] Hopkins and passed away at his home, 922 N. Michigan Ave., June 19, 1930 at 11 p.m. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having fought bravely and faithfully for his country. He was a member of the Methodist-Episcopal Church and a staunch Christian. He was stricken with paralysis 13 years ago and had since then been an invalid, although able to sit up to the very day of his death. He is survived by his widow, Harriet I., 3 sons and one daughter, William of Grand Rapids; David J. of Marcellus; Leon O. of Lansing; and Daisy M. Manning of Battle Creek;one daughter having died in infancy. Also two brothers, James W. of this city and Elra of Battle Creek, 2 brothers and 4 sisters having passed to their rest before him. Also 9 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren. Interment in Riverside Cemetery at Hastings, MI, on July 21, 1930. Rev. L.L. Dewey officiating. dz
